Lake Macquarie
Sanctuary is just a short 5 minute drive from the beautiful shores of Lake Macquarie, on which lies the communities of Belmont and Swansea. Lake Macquarie is the largest coastal lake in Australia, covering an area 24km in length and has 174km of foreshore with many beautiful bays and beaches. There is plenty of boating, fishing, skiing and water activities on the lake. A magical way to spend your leisure time.
Newcastle
Newcastle has a great deal to offer everyone. The beautiful foreshore allows walking on the beachfront, pools and nature reserves. Stop off at the Brewery for a rest and a meal. There are venues for shopping, picnicking, night clubbing, attending the theatre, visiting art galleries or just taking in the historical and cultural atmosphere of the city. Beaumont Street Hamilton is a cultural "melting pot" for any cuisine one fancies to eat.
Just south of the hub of Newcastle is the thriving shopping metropolis of Charlestown.
Hunter Valley
Hunter Valley Vineyards about an hours drive is Australia’s oldest wine producing region. Enjoy wine tasting, meet the local characters, go for a hot air balloon ride or just have a family picnic in their well serviced grounds.
